General considerations

Over time, we expect SLT or other HANA replication mechanisms to become the predominant tool.

The data provisioning via the CO-PA program is meant to be easy –to implement, low TCI solution as it builds on the connection required for read access. It also provides built-in support & status handling for the DO-PA scenario.

Using SLT, there is no dedicated mechanism for transferring the object table (CE4). Changes are simply replicated when they happen.

CO-PA accelerator will speed up the selection of CO-PA data for reporting

• Existing ERP reports will continue to work without visible change to the user including calculations, layout, authorizations.
• For optimum performance, use certain options (see next slides)
• With CO-PA accelerator, the application will read from -------- HANA line items instead of usual summarization levels / totals table.
  • You can specific in customizing transaction KEHC----------------- to control in detail which reports should read form HANA and which should stay in traditional mode
• You may use from-based or ad-hoc reports.
• ERP Drilldown reports (on totals / --------) will only offer characteristics of totals table independent of technical access to line items in HAN.
• ERP Line item reports (KE24) will be redirected to HANA as well. However, some performance-relevant options (“read upon each navigation step”) are not available for line item reporting.
• For full flexibility in line item reporting, consider reporting directly out of HANA.

Important settings

Make sure to use the aggregation in HANA and not in the application server when navigating in the report (option “read upon each navigation step”).

The settings for summarization data will be ignored if the CO-PA accelerator is active.

Characteristics are identical to the normal system to allow fallback

The available characteristics in defining reports are restricted to the ones available in the totals table –although the technical read access is on line items with CO-PA accelerator.
