The Report designer tool can be used to develop simple and complex reports. Report Designer is a publishing tool,&nbsp; that is hosted in Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) or Visual Studio.

This tool provides easy access to web-based reports. The default URL of the Report Manager is http://&lt;server&gt;/reports.

It is a server that uses the SQL Server database engine to store metadata.

On a report server, or a different server we choose, we will have access to the Report Manager website. The Report Manager website can be used to deploy and manage reports. End users run reports by the Report Manager and publish their reports if they have permission. An SQL Server Reporting Services is associated with a SQL Server instance. The SQL Server instance has two databases, the first is a report server and the second one is ReportServerTempdb. The end-user sends a HTTP request for a report. The report server finds the metadata of the report and sends a request for data to the data source then after the data is returned by the data source and merged with the report definition into a report. When the report is generated then it is sent to the client.

Now go back to &ldquo;Web Service URL&rdquo; to configure it for HTTPS. Click on &ldquo;Advanced..&rdquo;:

Remove the TCP Port 80 (HTTP) identity and add the SSL identity by clicking on &ldquo;Add&rdquo;:

<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Installation of the Reporting Services Point role</h3>
&nbsp;Add the Reporting Service role on the Report Server hosting the SQL Reporting Services.
While adding the role make sure that you specify the following:

<li>&ldquo;SCCM Site Database Server Name&rdquo; at &lsquo;Site Database Server Name&rsquo; (Example: PRI.contoso.com)</li>
<li>&ldquo;SCCM Site Database Name&rdquo; at &lsquo;Database Name&rsquo; (Example: CM_MUM)</li>
<li>&ldquo;Reporting Service Instance Name&rdquo; at &lsquo;Reporting Services Server Instance&rsquo; (Example: MSSQLSERVER)</li>
<li>Set the &ldquo;User Name</li>
</ul>

Now,&nbsp;verify the initiation of role installation and start of the Bootstrap Service in Sitecomp.log. Do this by looking at the Site System name (i.e. Report Server):

Verify that the role was added successfully by looking in SRSRPsetup.log on the Site System (located at \&lt;Drive&gt;SMSLogs):

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server based scalable and extensible platform for authoring, deploying, executing and managing reports based on a variety of data sources.
When running the SSRS installation, you will need to install the Database Engine and SQL Server Reporting Services in Native mode. It is easier to install both services at one time, because you can choose to have the installation process configure the SSRS services for you. If SSRS is installed later, or if you select not to configure it at installation, you will have to configure it manually. During installation, be sure to select these features:

Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) as the SSRS development tool. However, starting with SQL Server 2012, you will use SQL Server Data Tools &ndash; Business Intelligence (SSDT-BI), which may or may not be on the SQL Server media, depending on the version. As discussed, we need to associate SSRS with a SQL Server instance, where it can create the reporting databases (<code>ReportServer</code> and <code>ReportSereverTempdb</code>). When prompted, select the instance name and click Connect.

On the next screen, select the Database page on the left menu and click Change Database.

Select Create a new report server database and click Next. On the following screen, we configure the report databases. We can choose a different name from the default of<code>ReportServer</code>, if desired, but only do so if you have a good reason such as multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same server.

Continue clicking though the wizard and complete it. Once done, we need to configure the Report Server Web Service, so click the Web Service URL link.

Accept the defaults and click Apply. Finally, we need to configure Report Manager, so click the Report Manager URL link. Again, accept the defaults and click Apply.

Click on Service Account option in the Left pane, here you have the option for choosing a built-in account or windows domain user account to use the Report Server Service.

Click on the Web Service URL option &ndash; this URL will be used to host and access the report server. Give the report server a name in the Virtual Directory option. Then, click on the apply option and your URL will be converted into a hyperlink, as shown below.

The option Database, is for the Report server database. It is used for Meta data of reports. Click Change Database button on right pane and another window will open. You may opt for either an existing database or create a new database, then click on next.

Now, you have to enter a name for the Report Server Database that will be used for storing Meta Data for the Report Server. After selecting the appropriate options that you need, click on the Next button. The Report database will be created.

<h3>Disadvantages of SSRS:</h3>

<li>It isn't easy to make modifications in the debug expression and custom code.</li>
<li>SSRS does not give any methods to transfer values from sub-report to the main report.</li>
